TITANS JUMP OUT TO 17-7 LEAD OVER KC JAZZ!!! GAME CALLED AT HALFTIME DUE TO LIGHTING!!!!

By Titans Media Relations- July 26, 2008

Photos by Joddy Grider

Harrisonville, MO:  Your Midwest Titans jumped out to a 17-7 lead and that’s all they needed to pick-up 5th win of the season because the game was called at halftime due to lighting. “We knew there was a strong chance of bad weather to hit us before the game was complete, but not in the first half of play;” said Head Coach Webb.

The Midwest Titans got off to a fast start when the Starting QB Eric Hoskins (Missouri Western University) connected with starting wide-out Kellen Long (Olathe North) for a 46 yard TD pass with 4:29 left in the 1st quarter.

PAT was good by K/P Matt Witcher (Avila University). Strong Side Backer CJ Johnson (Central Missouri State) picked –up an 8 yard sack that pinned the KC Jazz deep inside their 10 yard line on their final possession of the first quarter.

The first quarter ended with the Midwest Titans leading the KC Jazz 7-0. Starting DE Mickey Nolan (Avila University) got the second sack of the game for the Titans’ Defense. Entering into the 2nd quarter, the Jazz got a early score, but the Titans answered right back when the offense went on a 7 play 68 yard drive that was caped off with a 3 yard TD run by FB Troy Maupins (Sedalia Smith Cotton) at the 2:56 mark of the 2nd quarter.

Kick was good by K/P Matt Witcher. Kicker Matt Witcher added the final points of the half when he nailed a nice 41 yard field goal just before half time. Starting DB Desmond Jamison (Mid-American Nazarene) added another interception to his total when he picked off a deep pass and took it all the way back to the Jazz 20 yard line for a 53 yard INT return.

With less than 2 minutes left in the half, free safety Jeff Edwards (Southeast Missouri State) recovered a fumble by the KC Jazz running back and this ended the 1st half of play with the Titans leading 17-7. Just as both teams were taking the field for the 2nd half, lighting moved in and refused to leave. After a long wait, the game was called and the final score was Titans-17 Jazz-7. The Midwest Titans are now 5-0 with the victory and is looking forward to hosting a divisional game against the Missouri Wildcats this weekend, August 2, 2008. The Titans staff and players understand that this is a huge game for them. The Titans are hoping to pack the stands and show the Missouri Wildcats how we do it here in Harrisonville, MO home of the Midwest Titans. See you all this Saturday night at Memorial Stadium and please come support the Titans. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm. Blessings!

TITANS SEND “SHOCK WAVE” REMAINS UNBEATEN WITH 31-12 WIN OVER THE KC SHOCKERS!!!

By Titans Media Relations- July 19, 2008

Liberty, Mo: As Midwest Titans Head Coach Robert “Bo” Webb put it; “This game has been in the making for the last two years.” The wait didn’t seem to matter for the Titans as they remained undefeated with a 31-12 thumping or the KC Shockers last Saturday at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. The win moves the Titans to 4-0 and gives them a lead in the Heartland Division heading into this Saturday’s home game against the KC Jazz.  Defense has been the story all season for the Titans and the trend continued against the Shockers. Midwest had a 14-12 lead at halftime, but after the intermission, the Titans got things rolling and the defense stifled the Shockers, holding them scoreless the final two quarters of the game. This allowed Midwest to pull away.  “Our defense once again was a real big standout, and the team as a whole is starting to make a real big name for itself across the entire league,” Webb said. The Midwest Titans are slowly moving up the ranks nationally and now sits at #9 out of 142 teams in the NAFL (North American Football League).  Not to bad for a team that’s in its second year season of play.

“Grouch match indeed!” That is why this game had more on the line for Head Coach Webb, some of his staff members, and some of his players.  Webb said; “I was the Head Coach of the KC Shockers for 3 seasons and also help start the Organization.” Webb was not the only one who let the KC Shockers, Current Titans Starting QB and Offensive coordinator Eric Hoskins, Defensive Coordinator Tim Ellis, Wide Revivers/Tight Ends Coach Robert Hall, and a hand full of players who also joined the Titans from the Shockers. This group and the rest of the Titans had a lot to prove going into last Saturday’s game and “Yes” this was personal according to many of the members of the Titans.

The first half was close with The Titans leading 14-12 at halftime, but the second half was all Titans. Starting QB Eric Hoskins (Missouri Western University) threw 3 TD passes in the second half alone. The first score of the game was too wide out kellen Long (Olathe North) for an 8 yard TD catch with 1:52 left in the second quarter. Kick was good by K/P Matt Witcher (Avila University).  The other first half points came when LB Salik Johnson (Westport High) blocked a punt and it was recovered in the end zone by DT Brian Allen (Butler County College).  The Titans defense and special teams came up big in the third quarter with 2 safeties handing Midwest an 18-12 lead going into the fourth quarter. Hoskins capped of the scoring with two, fourth quarters TD passes. The first to wide-out Jason Browning (Cass County’s Sherwood High and Central Missouri State University) for a 46 yard pass with 8:08 left in the fourth. The final score of the game came on a beautiful strike from QB Hoskins to wide-out Joe Jones (Grandview High) with 4:03 left in the game. K/P Matt Witcher was 3 for 4 in PAT’s attempts but missed a 31 yard field goal. The game ended with the Midwest Titans picking-up its 4th win of the season 31-12 win over the KC Shockers. The Titans return to action this Saturday night July 26, 2008 in Harrisonville, Mo for a home game against a much improved KC Jazz team. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm. The Titans are also playing at home again next Saturday night August 2, 2008 against the current undefeated Missouri Wildcats. Kick-off for this game is also set for 7:00pm. The Titans look forward in seeing all fans and supporters at both games starting this Saturday night. Blessings!

"TITANS PLAY HOME OPENER WITH HIGH EMOTIONS"

Titans open up 2008 home schedule with 24-0 win over KC Panthers!!!

By Titans Media Relations- July 12, 2008

Photos by Joddy Grider

Harrisonville, Mo:

Playing with high emotions; The Midwest Titans took the field Saturday night against the KC Panthers with a tragedy on their minds.  Starting QB and Co-Owner Eric Hoskins lost his 4 month old son Ethan Hoskins to a sudden infection on Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours before kickoff. Ethan Hoskins is the newest member of the Titans family. On a night filled with mix emotions; the Midwest Titans still managed to play 4 solid quarters of football to open up their 2008 home schedule with a 24-0 shutout victory over the KC Panthers. Playing in front of the largest crowd of the 2008 season, the Midwest Titans proved why they will be a force to be reckoned with. "WOW" what a performance by a very good defense Saturday night and yes it was a night that belonged to the Titan's "Blackshirts."  Former Titans back-up QB David Jones, who is now the starting QB for the Panthers

ended his day by tossing 5 interceptions to the Titans ‘Blackshirts” Defense.  “Not to take anything away for David Jones, we (Staff of the Titans) just know him very well” said Head Coach Webb. The "Blackshirts" showed why they are considered one of the league's fastest defenses and why they like to fly around to make plays as a unit. "Defensive coordinator Tim Ellis has this defense right where the team needs them to be at this point in our young 2008 season and we all know that they will improve week to week.

Keep up the good work Coach Ellis;" said Head Coach Webb.  Starting DB Desmond Jamison (Mid-American Nazarene University) got things started when he got one of his two interceptions of the night by picking off Panther's QB David Jones in the endzone for a touch back. Jamison ended his night with 2 Int's and a blocked punt for a safety.

Not to be out done by his running mate starting DB Steve O'Connor (Southwest Missouri State) got 3 interceptions on the night and returned one for a 10 yrd touchdown with 4:46 left in the 4th. This put the Titans up 16-0. The final  touchdown of the game came on a "crowd pleasing play" When DT Brian Allen (Butler County College) caused a fumble and starting DE Gary Coates (Avila University) scooped up the ball and raced down field for a 53 yrd touchdown return. The 2 point conversion was good by Robert Hall  (University of Tennessee) when he tossed a pass to WR Joe Jones (Grandview High) in the corner of the end zone. The game ended with a final score of 24-0. The Titans defense also recorded numerous sacks on the night. Deshawn Glodsmith (Mid-American Nazarene University), and Steve Butler (Columbia Rock Bridge High) accounted for 1 sack each. This was a outstanding performance by the Midwest Titans "Blackshirts" Defense.  The Titans offense was well below their 48 points per game average, but did managed to put 7 points on the board when starting FB Karl Harris (Ottawa University) ran a Panther defender over to score from 1 yrd away.

Kick was good by K/P Matt Witcher (Avila University).  Now the Midwest Titans take their overall record to 3-0 in League play. The Titans open up their 2008 Division schedule this weekend when they take on the KC Shockers.  This will be a short drive up north to William Jewell  University in Liberty, Mo home of the Shockers. This is a highly anticipated match-up because There is a lot of history between members of both teams. Kickoff is set for 3:00pm. Titans fans are encouraged to wear white and black colors. See Ya'll Saturday afternoon in Liberty, Mo. "GO TITANS."

The 2007 Midwest Titans just finished their inaugural season and indeed it was “Outstanding.”

At the beginning of the 2007 season; the Titans set their ultimate goal as to become the only first year team in Minor League history to ever win a National Championship.  Well, they fell just short of that goal, but accomplished many other goals along the way.  The Midwest Titans who was a part of the North American Football League, played in a tough Great Plains Division.

They finished 2nd in divisional play with a record of 5-1-1, and an Overall league Record of 12-4-1. The Titans landed a 3rd seed in the 2007 NAFL Playoffs.  The Mighty Titans was faced with a very tough task in the 1st round of the playoffs by drawing the Dakota Lawdawgs who won the Great Plains Division. The Lawdawgs beat the Titans earlier in the season 14-6 and both teams tied later on in the season 10-10 in a defensive battle. This 1st roundd playoff game was named “Game of the Week” by the NAFL, but this time the winner moved on and the loser was done for the season.  The Midwest Titans held on to beat the 13th rank team in the nation 18-7 and a trip to the 2nd round of the 2007 playoffs.

Well, the Titans next round opponent was the #1 seeded team in the Midwest Region, the St. Louis Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs was sitting on a record of 10-1 and a 3 year undefeated home winning streak. The St. Louis Bulldogs had already beat the Titans 24-0 earlier in the season in St. Louis, Mo. but this time the Mighty Titans came into this 2nd round playoff game with a 4 game winning streak and nothing to lose. Again, the Titans managed to pull out a victory scoring 20-17 over the St. Louis Bulldogs and snap their 2year home winning streak.

The Titans ended up with a bye in the 3rd Rd of the playoffs and with this bye they clinch the 2007 NAFL Regional Championship Title and a trip the Conference Finals better know as the “Elite Eight.” Now the Midwest Titans was awaiting the winner of the Kane County Eagles v. Pittsburg Colts game. The Titans also had a chance to host their first home playoff game ever, but only if the Kane County Eagles won and in deed they did.

The Titans became the first ever Minor League Football Team to qualify for the Conference Championship in their first season of play. The Titans lost the 2007 Conference Championship to a very tough Kane County Eagles team by a final score of 41-7.  The Kane County Eagles went on to win the 2007 NAFL League Title in Las Vegas over the Dallas Diesel.  This was the Eagles 2nd NAFL League Title in team history. The Titans ended their 2007 inaugural campaign with an overall record of 12 Wins, 4 Loses, and 1 Tie and a Midwest Regional Title.

Overall no one who is a part of the Titans’ Organization could have asked for a better performance from a first year team.  The entire Midwest Titans Organization displayed hard work, dedication, balance, and discipline throughout the 2007 year. A big “Thanks” to all of our 2007 Sponsors (Harrisonville School District, Athena’s of Columbia, Mo, Pier Masters Mud Jacking of Greater KC, Applebee’s of Belton, Cass Medical Center of Harrisonville, Bobby Ray Entertainment, and Zuri Color Studios) for helping contribute to the 2007 season. We would also like to thank Liddle’s Sports Shop of Blue Springs, Mo for helping us put together the best looking uniforms in the league.  The Titan Coaching Staff did a great job in keeping the players motivated and keeping them focused from the beginning to the end of the 2007 season. The Lady Titans Dance/Cheer Team put in numerous of hours to help support the Titans. The Dance/Cheer Team finished their season with a solid performance during the halftime show of the National Title Game in Las Vegas. We want to say, “Thank You Ladies.” Finally the “Fans!” Our fans supported us at every game (home and away). At a few away games, we (Midwest Titans) seemed to have just as many if not more fans as the home team. Without the loyalty of our fans, no one knows how this season would have turned out to be. “Thank you” fans for your loyalty, time and dedication to help make 2007 a memorable year. We have the greatest fans ever! As the Midwest Titans made good work of their 2007 team motto “The Core Is…..We are One Unit,” thanks Steve Butler for coming up with our first ever team motto. The Titans now look forward to the 2008 season and a new team motto. We also look forward to expanding on our many accomplishments.

Blessings,
Midwest Titans Media Relations

The Midwest Titans take another step closer to "Vegas" by defeating the St. Louis Bulldogs 20-17.

"THE 3RD TIME IS A CHARM" MIDWEST TITANS DEFEAT THE DAKOTA LAWDAWGS IN 1ST RD OF PLAYOFFS 18-7!!!

Garreston, South Dakota: The Midwest Titans traveled to Garreston, South Dakota this past Saturday the 6th of October in a highly anticipated rematch. The Midwest Titans and The Dakota Lawdawgs took to the Gridiron for the 3rd time theis season, but with playoffs written all over it. The Midwest Titans lost to the Lawdawgs in their 1st meeting of the 2007 seson by a score of 6-14 on July 14, 2007 and tied the lawdawgs after 5 Quarters of play in thier 2nd meeting on September 8, 2007 by a score of 10-10. "The 3rd time was a Charm" for the Midwest Titans and the Titans defeated the lawdawgs in the 1st RD of the 2007 playoffs by a score of 18-7 in Garreston, South Dakota. The Titans went into Saturday nights game clearly as the underdogs because the Dakota lawdawgs was the 2007 Great Plains Division champs, rank # 9 out of 104 teams in the NAFL, and rank # 33 in the nation. After the opening kick off; the Titans offense marched right down field on a 7 play drive that ended up with HB Jay Robinson (Missouri Western State University) finding the corner of the end zone for a 8 yrd TD run. The PAT was good by K/p Matt Witcher (San Jose State University) . This put the Titans up by a score of 7-0. The Titans "Blackshirts" Defense under the Supervison of Coordinator Tim Ellis was ready to prove that they are ready for battle and once again they held the Lawdawgs offense scoreless the entire game. The Dakota Lawdawgs only score of the night came on a fumble return for a TD by the defense of the Lawdawgs in 2nd Quarter. The 2nd half of the game started with both the Titans and Lawdawgs defense being very stingy and not allowing a point until late in the 3rd when Titans TE/WR Robert Hall (University of Tennessee) caught a nice pass from starting QB Eric Hoskins (Missouri Western State University) to set up a 32 yrd field goal try by K/P Matt Whitcher (San Jose State Unversity). Witcher nailed the kick and the Midwest Titans went up by a score of 10-7. The 4th quarter prove to be one of the most entertaining 4th quarters in the Great Plains Divisional play this season. With both offenses of the Titans and Lawdawgs having success moving the ball but coming up empty; everyone knew that who ever had the ball last would probly win the game. Well; that almost prove the be the point, but it was the Titans "Blackshirts" Defense who ended with the last score of the game. With less than 50 sec remaining in the game, the Dakota Lawdawgs Offense found themselves with a 3rd and goal on the 5 yrd line of the Titans. This proved to be the play of the game when OLB Steve Butler (Columbia Rock Bridge) hit the QB of the Lawdawgs in the back field as he was throwing the ball causing Titans DL Brian Allen (Butler County Community College) to pick it and return it for a 85 yrd TD. K/P Matt Witcher (San Jose State University) ran in the 2 pt. coversition. This put the Titans up by a score of 18-7 with less than 30 sec left in the game. LB Brian Robinson (Henderson State College) picked off a pass to ice the game for the Titans. The Midwest Titanshad one of their best proformances of the season with takeaways. The Midwest Titans ended the night with a total of 5 takeaways. DB Butch Powell (Lincoln Uiversity) lead the way with 2 fumble recovers. LB Brian Robinson (Henderson State College), LB John Holland (Misouri Valley State), and DL Brian Allen (Butler County Community College) all had 1 interception each. FB Bobby Whitsett (Missouri State) had a force fumble on punt unit. The Midwest Titans want to "Thank" all fans who made the trip to support them.

With the victory, your Midwest Titans take their overall record to  10-3-1 and have advance to the 2nd RD of the NAFL 2007 Playoffs. The Titans will now travel to St. Louis, Missouri to take on the #1 seed Bulldogs at Mehlville High School in St. Louis. Kickoff is set for 7:05pm. Please come and support the Midwest Titans as they continue their "Season Ending Tour" in 200

Salem, South Dakota: The Midwest Titans traveled to Salem, South Dakota this past Saturday the 8th of September. In a highly anticipated rematch. The Titans and Lawdawgs end the game in a 10-10 Tie after 5 Quarters of play. After a 15 minute delay during pre-game warm-ups because of heavy rains, some hail, and lighting; the Titans and lawdawgs took the field and gave the fans a divisional game to remember. Can you say; "Defensive Battle." Both teams combined for a total of 9 turnovers and either team could not produce any offensive TD's. The only points of the night came on Touchdowns by both teams defense and one field goal a piece. TITANS GET BACK ON THE WINNING TRACK BY RECORDING A 35-22 VICTORY OVER
THE CASS COUNTY RENEGADES!!!

Your Midwest Titans get back to their winning ways on the road with a win in Weeping Water, Nebraska against the Cass County Renegades 35-22! The Titans got out to a fast start and took a commanding 20-0
lead going into the 2nd quarter. The Midwest Titans went into this game without starting QB Eric Hoskins who was placed on IR with a hip injury. So Head Coach Webb went to stand-out QB/WR Chris Brown who rack up 3 passing TD's for over 150 yrds on the night, all just in the first half of play. Brown; got things started when he hit wide-out Steve Smith for
a 32 yrd TD. PAT was good by back-up place kicker Nick Tebbe. When the Titans took the field on kick-off, no one saw this coming when starting Wide-receiver and special teamer Donnie Kendall put a BIG hit on the Renegades returner and cause a fumble that was recovered by Robert Hall. This lead to the Titans third TD of the game. "This was a big time special team play because the momentum was starting to swing in the direction of the Renegades at this time; quoted Head Coach Webb." QB Chris Brown came right back and hit veteran wide-out Roger Hawkins for a 38 yrd pass in the corner of the end-zone for a TD. PAT was no good by back-up kicker Tebbe. Chris Brown connected with starting TE Robert Hall late in the 2nd quarter for a nice TD pass. PAT was good by back-up kicker Tebbe. to start the 3rd quarter, Head Coach Webb went to veteran back-up QB David Jones and he came out the blocks to lead the offense
down the field on a 12 play 72 yrd drive only to have a nice TD pass to TE Robert Hall on 3rd down called back due to a illegal motion and this also took the Titans out of field goal range. The Titans was forced to punt. "David Jones has been a leader for the team and has help bring the young and upcoming QB Chris Brown along. David also has been a blessing
to have around and we are glade he is here with us. With the combination of these 3 QB's Brown, Hoskins, and Jones; we feel like we have the best 3 headed monster in the Midwest; stated head Coach Webb."

The Titans Defense continued their dominating ways Saturday night in Weeping Water, Nebraska by forcing 5 turnovers. 2 of the 5 turnovers went into the end zone for Touchdowns. Defensive End's Mickey
Nolan (Avila University) caused a fumble when he laid a vicious hit on the Renegade's QB and Gary Coates (Avila University) got the Titans "Black Shirts" rolling when he pick-up the fumble and ran untouched for TD. LAWDAWGS TAKE SPARK OUT OF TITANS!!!

The Midwest Titans played host to the Dakota Lawdawgs in Harrisonville, MO. Saturday night for first place in the North American Football League's Great Plains Division. With a 3 game winning steak and home field advantage; your very own Midwest Titans fell short in a defensive battle by a final score of 14-6! Going into half time the score was 0-0. In the second half both teams came out and moved the ball on offense, but could not produce any points until the Dakota Lawdawgs scored on a 22 yrd pass with 9:30 left in the 4th. The Midwest Titans had the opportunity to score first when DB Butch Powell dropped an interception and could have walked into the end-zone from 26 yrds out. After a solid kick return by Roger Hawkins that set the Titans offense up inside the Lawdawgs 40; the Titans Offense went to work and HB-Irvin Beeks scored on a 15 yrd pass from Eric Hoskins to bring the score to 7-6 in favor of the Lawdawgs after the extra point was missed. With 2:40 left in the game, the Titans decided to go for a onside kick that was recovered by the Lawdawgs. The defense of the Titans stiffened and found themselves putting the Lawdawgs in a 3 and 7 situation. The Dakota Lawdawgs picked up the 1st down and the Titans then decided to let the Dakota Lawdwgs score. This brought the score to 14-6 Lawdawgs. "We decided to put the game in the hands of our offense; stated Head Coach Webb." After the squib kick-off was recovered by Jason "Red Dog" Buford of the Titans, the offense went to work, but a costly interception by QB Eric Hoskins put the ball back in the hands of the Lawdawgs and they quickly went into victory formation to win the game by a final of 14-6. Head Coach Webb said; " key penalties and costly turnovers on the offensive side of the ball hurt us bad tonight. The offense also must finish by putting points on the score board when we get inside the red zone. . Defensive Coordinator Tim Ellis had his defense playing hungry all night and they only truly gave up 6 points the entire game. Great job Coach Ellis and the entire defense of the Titans! "Overall we did a good job in playing against the Dakota Lawdawgs who came into the game with an undefeated record and rank # 4 in the nation," said Head Coach Webb. "I'm very proud of my guys because we are starting to show alot of promise in all three phases of a football team. We will also continue to work on our team unity and I know by Faith that this team will one day be a force to be reconken with; said Head Coach Webb! TITANS REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE PLAY WITH WIN OVER KC PANTHERS 14-12!!!

The 1st year Team Midwest Titans played host to the previously undefeated KC Panthers Saturday night in front of a great and loud crowd. The Panthers was sent back to their den frustrated and dazed. Helping lead the way was the Titans "Blackshirts" Defense with 2 key four and out stands against a much improved KC Panther Offense. The Defense was lead by Outside Backer-Steve Butler with 11 solo tackles. Mickey Noland, John Holland, and Richard Smith all recorded a sack during the game. Starting Defensive-back Steve O'Connor lead the way for the secondary of the Titans with 1 interception and 2 pass break-ups. Back-up halfback Jay Robinson lead the way for the Offense of the Titans with 114 yards rushing on 12 carries! Robinson is very explosive and has the speed and quickness to hurt any defense said; "Head Coach Robert Webb." Starting Halfback Irvin Beeks; managed to rush 45 yrds on 10 carries in the first half before leaving the game with a knee injury. Quarterback Eric Hoskins also connected with receiver LJ Brackson for a 8 yrd TD pass. The Titans 2nd and final score of the game came on a 8 yrd TD run by Fullback Bobby Whitsett. Special Teams came through on a few BIG plays when back-up Linebacker Salik Johnson blocked a 35 yrd field goal. Kicker/punter Mathew Witcher had 2 punts that was down inside the 5 yrd line. This was a hard fought battle and we knew that the Panthers was a very good football team. Either offense on both sides of the football could produce many points, but our defense did a great job in giving up only 12 points to a Panther Offense that has been scoring a average of 43.5 points per game said; "Head Coach Robert Webb." The Titans will be traveling to Northeast Nebraska to play a divisional game against the Thunderbirds. The Titans we be leaving Saturday Morning July 14th.

Titans Win BIG in Iowa

The Midwest Titans had a great ride home tonight after their performance against the Manson Eagles.

Even though it’s a 5 hour trip back home it’s hard for the team not to be in high spirits after winning against the Eagles tonight 21-0.

The Titans lead at the end of the half 14-0. After the break the Titans continued to shut down the Eagles offense plus the Titans offense was able to squeeze in another touchdown even after some questionable calls by the referee’s to finish the game with a shutout. Final score Titans 21 Eagles 0.

We look forward to facing off against the Kansas City Panthers this next Saturday July 7th at home in Harrisonville. Hope to see everyone out for a Great Time.
